Personal Narrative

Gary Dowell had previously completed his tour with HMM-163 In Sept.65. After rotating to Okinawa HMM-163 was waiting to return to the U.S. We were ordered back to Vietnam and sent to separate squadrons. I went back to Da Nang with Thurman Campbell (Gary & Thurm joined together, Thurm accompanied his body home) Gary was shot by a sniper on a resupply mission while in the LZ.
