"History of Marine Observation Squadron Six":
"On 18 July First Lieutenant Charles B. Marino and his observer, First Lieutenant Wilson A. Frease were hit by antiaircraft fire behind enemy lines and crashed out of control in friendly territory. A search party from the 3d Battalion, 5th Marines was enroute to the wreckage when it was forced back by enemy artillery fire. After darkness, the party reached the wreckage and the bodies were recovered."
