"History of Marine Observation Squadron Six":
"On 3 December [1950] First Lieutenant Robert A. Longstaff was shot down and killed by enemy small arms fire while he was attempting to evacuate a seriously wounded Marine near Shinhung-ni. A patrol sent out from the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines recovered his body."
