U.S. Marine from East Greenwich dies in helicopter crash in Afghanistan
A U.S. Marine from East Greenwich died Wednesday in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.


1st. Lt. Ryan K. Iannelli, 27, of Clarksboro, was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

First Lt. Ryan K. Iannelli, 27, of Clarksboro, died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, the DOD reported.

Iannelli, a 2002 graduate of Kingsway Regional High School, was assigned to the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269, Marine Air Group 29, 2nd Marine Air Wing, II Marine Expeditionarty Force.

He was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in New River, N.C.
