HMM-363 Command Chronology 25 June 1967

At 0001H, YZ-66 [probably wrong ID as a/c BuNo 148077 is confirmed] while approaching the fuel pits at Dong Ha after completing a night medevac mission, lost control due to mechanical difficulties, struck the ground in a nose down attitude and over-turned. The helicopter immediately burst into flames. The pilot and copilot escaped quickly with minor scratches and bruises. The pilot returned to the flaming wreckage to help rescue the disabled gunner. The crew chief apparently was unconscious and died in the inaccessible interior of the burning aircraft.
