I was a Cobra Pilot then - but when I started flying OV's in the 70's and was stationed in New River, I think I recall seeing pictures in a series like this - over DaNang bay. The guy flying sure looks short enough!! Sierra Sierra!

This picture is from the middle of our '68-'69 VMO-2 Cruise book. I am the front seat and John Spivey is the observer in the back. Monkey Mountain just north of MMAF is in the background.

It was in 1963 or 64 that I first saw the OV-10 concieved and draw out on a brown paper bag. I was working for Maj. Smith in IV Marine Air Wing ops at NAS Glennview. We toreup a lunch sack in his office and did the first sketches.

I was just thinking about him and the OV-10 last week. Someone tell me how well did it work? It was intended to be able to get in close, stay with the fight or cover until help came, and take fire without being driven off or downed.
