A friend sent me this scan and asked if it was used by HMA-369 or one of the WestPac Cobra Dets.

...don't know about later, but it doesn't look familiar from the time of the origninal MARHUK mission in 1972....

The writing under the corba is the Japanese character of "Tora" which when translated means "Tiger". Maybe this will be of some help identifing the patch owners. Maybe who ever had this patch made up, could have been trying to use this Japanese character as a play with words, as the Japanese used , "Tora, Tora, Tora" as the code word for the attack on Pearl Harbor, which was "Attack, attack, attack".

A Japanese company called Flying Papa's has a decal sheet (1/72d scale) for a AH-1J with the Japanese character on the engine bay door. SN-02 (157764). Here's the web page: HKN-168 (http://www.5chr.freeserve.co.uk/hkn168.htm) It's item #10.
