My mother Marcia Smith passed away at 2:30am in her house in Elgin IL Sunday Sept. 1st. The official cause of death was smoke inhalation due to fire. I would like to invite those who knew her to attend her memorial service it will be held at Oak Hill Cemetary in Cedar Rapids Iowa on Monday Sept. 8th at 2pm. She will be buried next to my uncle Craig as per her wishes.
I know she talked a great deal about those of whom she had met on this board and how they had helped her to finally deal w/the death of her brother, my uncle Cpl. Craig L. Smith. I believe she had made many friends here i know she had gone to the reunion in Pensecola and talked a great deal about how much fun she had had there and how everyone had made her feel like she was part of one very large family. I would like to say thank you to all of you for being there for my mom.

Please accept our most heartfelt condolences at the loss of your mother. While we may be unable to attend the services, we will be thinking of your mom and her warm wonderful smile she shared with us in Pensacola and her always witty and very funny comments.

Well i have more bad news...the state of IL has different requirements before i can have my mother transported across state lines so after more forms and red tape...i now have to wait for the state to cremate her of which they state will now take up to 7 days.....so unfortunately I have to postpone the funeral. We are tenatively schedualing it for Fri Sept. 12th at 2 pm. If things work out right then it will not change. I figured i should let everyone know. Thank you for all of your warm wishes and sympathy. Missa
