View Full Version : Reunion 2004 - Silent Auction
Marines, Corpsmen, & Others,
There will be a silent auction in Reno and your donations are requested. Please notify me if you can commit to bringing an item for the auction. All donors will be recognized and all proceeds to benefit the POPASMOKE Scholarship Fund.
suggestions: in-country memorabilia, flight gear, historical items, videos, USMC items, etc. etc.
Any questions, please let me know. I will be running the auction.
Thanks in advance for your support. OOORAH!
Sound off! If you have an item to donate to the silent auction, please get in touch with me.
Most of my stuff goes to the OBA museum at Meacham Field in FW. But I will bring something none the less. I am not about to believe that I am old enough to be in a museum.
My Mom closed up house and went to a care center, when going through the attic in order to clean up, we found some stuff I sent home from RVN in '70. Is this what you are looking for?
Yes sir, anything is appreciated. I'll be in Reno Wednesday evening of the Reunion and shouldn't be too hard to find.
I spent 4 days in P'cola and saw you when the awards were handed out. As part of the VMO-2 SLJO crew I plan to find your hidding place and join you.
Christmas of '70 I sent my Mom some X-mas cards from RVN, found them still as sent, never used. They are hand painted on silk with maker on the back. I will donate a couple to your cause, which is?
Next time you talk to JD, mention that there is interest in a group photo op. We are getting on and want get to see all these guys again.
This auction is going to be great! Some hard-charging members have already contacted me with items they will be bringing to Reno for the silent auction.
Looking for more donated items, keep'em coming.
Contact me at email@example.com
All donors will be recognized on the website after the Reunion.
Still looking for more donors... contact me via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can donate an item for the silent auction in RENO.
Thanks to those who have already contacted me. This is going to be a great fundraiser for the POPASMOKE Scholarship Fund while providing the opportunity for attendees to bid on some very cool items.
Come on Marines!
When I left HMM-164 in Jan '68 I was given a painting by the Maint Dept. The painting is on the backside of a piece of plexiglass and shows Snoopy on the top of his doghouse and the rear end of the doghouse is falling off. Snoopy is saying "Curse you Boeing-Vertol"
This was just after the time that the aft pylons were falling off with disturbingly regularity.
The only problem with this is at the bottom of the picture is my name (A B Colbert)
Idon't know if this suitable or not?
S/F Bruce colbert
Interesting Bruce, I don't know. Might be a hit. What are some other thoughts out there on it?
Any chance of a nomex flight suit going on?
Gee Larry, what gives you that idea?
That one is too small for you! Let me know if you find any XXX huge in there! LOL!
Last Oct. at Bronco Fest in FW, we held a flightsuit party. You never saw so much velcro in your life. The waist straps were holding on for dear life. Some just gave-up and came in a cap.
Try Allyn, he has some stuff that we all can use. If I put one more patch on my helment bag you want be able to see the green.
I'll have some framed patches, and an old UH-1E NATOPS manual. I'll see what else I can dig up.

I think I mentioned awhile back that I will bring a Size 42 light jacket (nearly new). It used to fit pretty well, but somehow it seems to have shrunk.
See You in Reno,
I will provide a moderately used leather flight jacket, some wear on fur collar, other wise good shape approx size 42.
1 pair of leather flight boots genuine USMC. Excellant condition, size 10 if my pee brain is correct.
1 pin from from 2nd ROK (Republic of Korea) Marine Brigade. Donated to me at Danang 1968.
1 piece of sharpnel approx 3" square. (From Rocket attack of
Danang AB flight line 1967.
Looking forward to this., was unable to attend 2002 due to heart attack.
OOORAH ! Thanks Marine! Good items for the auction!
You guys won't believe the things that we will be auctioning off! Good stuff coming in...
I can tell, this auction is going to be a popular one.
96 days and an early cup of joe...
2 Years ago I discovered that I had some artist talents that I didn't know that I had. I would be willing to donate 2 or 3 paintings in you think they could raise soem money. You can see my work at. http://public.fotki.com/gasher
I'm sure your work would be of interest to many, really good stuff. However, given the fact that my tablespace is limited at the reunion, I'm going to have to start accepting only USMC items at this point to reduce the amount of items for the auction. I've already received over 40 items.
Thanks for the offer. Much appreciated.
