Daddy your a brave soldier.
daddy please dont leave us!
daddy please dont get on that bus!
daddy i pray God will protect you with all of His might
i’ll take care of momma, i promise when you go to fight.
daddy your a soldier who is very brave
i ask God every night for you to save
your going off to war in a faraway land
and for God to keep you in his hand.
daddy today i got your letter
and now i feel so much better
daddy when i think about you i cry myself to sleep at night.
daddy are YOU (gulp) … in… the Big fight?
daddy why did you have to go away?
daddy why cant you be at home and with me stay?
daddy i miss you
but i know what your doing is good and true.
daddy i know your fighting so i can live free
daddy i watch every day to see if your on the TV
daddy your fighting the bad men
whup their butts and come home then.

I wrote this poem as if it was a child talking to his or her father gone off to fight in the war in Iraq. Just as there are thousands of fathers going off to fight in the war on terror. I know there are many children back home wanting their daddy’s to be back home safely.
