:(
So sad to hear about the first Tiger casualty. My brother is a Tiger, in TQ right now. He was part of the flight, but in a different chopper. Too close to home for me. My prayers are with our fallen Tiger's family.

For those of us who are out of date:

RE: The Photo of ET 16

* What is the box for just below the painted number 3400?

* What is that gadget that looks like a ship's lantern?

Thanks.

Ray,

There are actually two items that are part of the ASE (aircraft survivability equipment) gear each deployed phrog gets. The units on the stub wings are flare dispensers and the mounts by the exhaust outlets are to defeat heat seeking missiles.

The "Ships Lantern" is what senses a missle launch at the bird, I was told in P-Cola by the HAC of MQ411 (Lady Ace 09 in Saigon 1975). Once sensed, the stub wing containers automatically launch heat seeking decoys
