This Poem was scribed by MAJ E.O. Stoffey “Hostage Uniform” VMO2 68-70 in the back of our cruse book:

VMO-2

The Dawn Burst Forth into a New day
And Despite Last Evenings Rockets Red Glare,
Hope again rises for all, that in some way,
This Beaten and Ravished land,
With more than its Painful Share,
Can find that Sought After Elusive Peace,
As the Sunlight Widens its path,
Over Villages and Hamlets,
Some VMO-2 Crews are Retiring from last night,
And New Crews that Keep em Flying are
Up at First Light.
The drone of the OV-10 and the Hum of the Cobra is heard
Above the Sky, Whether it be Sunny
And Clear or Whether not fit for a bird.
These Brave Men, with their own sweat and blood,
Have Sacrificed so much for these
People of South Vietnam.
Through Mortal Combat and Separation
From loved ones, They have Prevented the Flood,
The disaster and death, of a peoples cherished freedom.
