HMH-463 Off cycle Reunion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To All HMH-463/462 Marines, Families and Friends,

At our last reunion in Fort Worth, several Squadron Board members received several suggestions regarding having out of sequence (off cycle) Reunion for Heavy Hauler folks. Off cycle means that the reunion does not occur the same year as the USMC Combat Helicopter Association (Pop-A-Smoke) reunion. Based on the inputs received we have set up an Off-Cycle Heavy Haulers Reunion sponsored by HMH-463. The reunion will be held at the Colorado Belle Hotel in Laughlin Nevada on October 24 and 25, 2007.

The reunion is open to all Heavy Hauler folks, and will be organized and sponsored by HMH-463. Paula and I have done the leg work and are coordinating this event in Laughlin. Laughlin is located about 80 miles south of Las Vegas right on the banks of the Colorado river.
We looked at three hotels in Laughlin and were offered the best deal at the Colorado Belle. So we made the decision to hold the reunion at the Colorado Belle. The Colorado Belle room rate is approximately $18.00 plus tax per night Sunday thru Thursday.

In setting up this reunion our goal is to make it a good event at a minimum cost, and you will not even have to look for a place to pitch shelter halves. The cost for this a reunion is much less than the one in Fort Worth last year.

The Colorado Belle is also the location for our two reunion buffet dinners which will be held the evening of October 24th and 25th. The cost of the buffet meals in the banquet room is $35.00 per meal per individual. There will also be a charge of $15.00 per couple to defray the cost of our hospitality suite.

We need to have a minimum of 25 persons sign up for both meals at the event, and pay in advance for the meals.
One thing I did ask the Colorado Belle for was a table for two with a black table cloth and white china service for two to be set up to honor POW/MIA folks. They have agreed to do this for our event.

While Paula and I were in Laughlin we went to Oatman (near by) and looked at the shops and wild burrows. The Oatman area is ideal for shopping and is an interesting place to visit during the reunion. If any one is interested, we can also arrange for golf tournament on one of the golf courses in the area.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating in the off-cycle 2007 Heavy Haulers reunion this October. Send your check for the dinners and Squadron fee to me:

:D Alright, count me in. My wife, Margaret,me, Zandra & Alvin, Raynita & Brian and all the little Papooses from 9 yrs old on down, will all be there, so if there is a form or how do we make reservations, pay for the meals and do the little ones have to pay for the Dinner. Please let me know asap, so I can start gathering the MOOLAH. We love Laughlin, better than Vegas, we also love the Colorado Belle, goo Bar-B-Que Ribs and Fish. That's our "stomping grounds", so count all of us in. But let me know how I go about reseving rooms, about the cost for the children. If I need to bring any silver jewelry or pottery for auction, doorprizes, etc. Wife is already getting itchy. Will there be any vendors selling Helicopter stuff, pins, decals, patches, etc. How do you add the smilies?

One of the things we agreed to do with the "surplus" funds from our Laughlin Mini-Reunion was
to use it to provide phone cards for the Marines in Iraq.

Hit the above link to the pic pages and follow the Phone Card thread.

As soon as pics are available, they will be posted at the above link.

We came up with 450 - 60 minute phone cards sent to Iraq and 75 to Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Below message rx on Monday, 10 December:

I just got word from Capt. Grabowski that all 450 phone cards reached the
squadron. I am sure that we will hear more from the squadron on the
distribution and get some photos that can be put up on the web. If we don't
it will be because they are busy doing what we wish we could still do.

I should be hearing more about the 75 cards for Bethesda soon and will let
you know about that when I do.
