Under unit awards, HMM-164 (Vietnam)is listed as having a Presidential Unit Citation issued for the period of 8Mar66-2April67.
Does this mean that the award is authorized for anyone in the squadron in that period?
Does anyone know specifically why the award was given to the squadron?

This PUC was awarded to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and covers two time periods: 8 Mar 66 - 2 Apr 67 and 13 Jul - 15 Sept 67. The award covers all 1st MAW squadrons and personnel during those dates.

Some squadrons were awarded individual PUC's, HMM-165 was one and the time frame is very specific, as were the requirements.
