It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Sergeant Bob Walton. Bob was a crew chief with HMM-361. He was with the squadron when it was initially deployed to Vietnam. During his time in country he was affectionately called Old magnet ass and also recipient of the Purple Heart.
Bob died of Leukemia on September 25th, 2007. He leaves his loving wife Joan and black lab (Tank). Bob was very proud to be a marine and a member of our Pop A Smoke Helicopter Association. He will be buried at Arlington cemetery on October 23, 2007 with full military honors.
I will miss my friend and brother marine.

Robert Lee Smith Walton Sr., 67, passed away Sept. 25, 2007. Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Chloe Smith and George and Alberta Walton. Robert served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, DAV, VFW, life member of the Lanham Loyal Order of the Moose No. 2025 and Leather Neck Club. He was also a member and past president of the Machinist Union. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Joan Marie Walton; two sons, Robert L. Walton Jr. and James; a daughter, Donna Pasker; a brother, Donald Walton; two sisters, Sandy Babb and Beth Ann Winslow; six grandchildren, Austin Walton, Lillian Walton, Angela Pasker, Dean Pasker, Katie Pasker and Jacob Pasker; and his canine companion, Tank.
A graveside service will be conducted with military honors at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Arlington National Cemetery.
The viewing will begin Friday, Sept. 28, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
