I served as a Royal Marine for 25 years, rising to the rank of Colonel before terminating my career early in 1997 to pursue a career in flight test at The Empire Test Pilot School. As a pilot I flew attack, reconnaissance and support helicopters with the Royal Marines, Royal Navy and Army Air Corps. In 1987 I was the first British aviator to attend the WTI course at MAWTS-1 during the time that Fred McCorkle was in command. During my time as Exec and CO of the Royal Marines air squadron and as a line pilot and flight commander flying on exchange with the Royal Navy I had the privilege to serve with a number of very fine USMC pilots whom I regarded highly as brothers-in-arms.

I was the Captain of the Sea King helicopter that flew Special Forces into Argentina during the Falklands War. I have recently written a book entitled ‘Special Forces Pilot’ describing my Falklands War experiences, to include the SF operation in Argentina. The book is due to be published on
16th October 2008. The foreword to the book has been written by HRH The Duke of York.
