Col. Ural W. "Bill" Shadrick, 81, of Falls Church VA. He served three decades, which included WW II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He saw action in the Pacific on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was commissioned and later served as a fighter pilot over Korea, flying more than 100 missions in the F4U Corsair.
Col. Shadrick commanded a number of fighter squadrons and amassed more than 400 carrier landings and became a flight instructor. His ground assignments include Norway, Laos and Thailand. He served two tours in RVN, first with a fighter squadron and then as CO of HMM-262. His decorations include the Silver Star, Distinuished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with Combat "V," two Purple Hearts, 63 Air Medals and the Navy Commendation Medal. He became CEO and chairman of ALM Inc., a defense contraction company in Northern Virginia.
