    Jim Wengert

I just hooked up with Jim Wengert who was in the hydraulics shop with me in 68 HMM-162, then went to HMM-262 in Nam 70-71. I hooked up with him on facebook and will go to the VFW in Mount Holly, NJ to see him for the first time in 42 years. Jim used to make the swoops with us from New River to NJ on weekends.

Guadalcanal was LPH 7, but is now it is razor blades. I saw it a few years ago in the Philly Navy Yard stripped down and ready to be scrapped.

    Arrow Carriers!!! You bet.

JD I was just referring to the Guadalcanal as the LPH-7, Just was to lazy
to spell it out. I do believe the Guam was the LPH-9 Also,I'd have to look it up to be sure. What times we had on them and the Port of CAlls. I do have a little bit of movies from the Last one I was on some in SanJuan PR. Sure do look young and full of the stuff. Thanks JJ

    Cruises

    JJ,
I went on two cruises with HMM-261. Carib 3-68 and Carib 1-70. The first cruise was on the USS Boxer, LPH-4 which was a converted WWII Essex class aircraft carrier. No A/C, no lockers for valuables no nothing! When we went aboard the Guadalcanal on the second cruise we thought we died and went to heaven!
