Mike, Joe, I am sadened by this Marines Passing. HMM-165 was a Great Squadron because of the caliber of Men it had, as most all the others were as well. I would believe he was a man of Faith, and is in Gods presence now. That is comforting I hope to his Family. S/F.

Cagle, Billy W. Age 67, died peacefully on December 9th with his family surrounding him. Billy was a loving husband to Darlene (Gross) for 46 years. Proud father of Ruth Anne Startz (Lee Charlton), Karyn Keene (Patrick) and Bill (Christina). Doting grandfather of Bubba, Zachary, Jacob, late Maggie, Sophia, Samantha, Drew and Ella. Brother to the late Bobby (Carol), Jimmy (Sharon), Elaine Coleman (Miles), Charles (Kathy), Charlotte McIntyre (Larry), Mary Southard (Mark). He was the eldest son of the late William L. & Ruth M. Cagle. He was a beloved nephew, uncle, cousin and friend to many. A veteran of the Vietnam war he served his country proudly from 1964-1970 in the US Marine Corps, HMM 165 receiving numerous medals including the Navy Commendation Medal with combat "V" for his heroic achievements. After his return, he went to work for UPS as a teamster truck driver and retired after 33 years of service. In 2002 he moved to Deadwood, SD to sit upon his mountain and enjoy the peace that nature provided him. His favorite past times included boating on the river, watching NASCAR and feeding the wildlife in his backyard. Bill was a simple, caring and dedicated man with a wonderful sense of humor that touched the lives of many. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5969, Deadwood, SD and the Hampton Park SAC in Romeoville, IL. Wild, glad Billy had a long Marrage, and drove UPS trucks for 33 years, and went back home after retirement, to his loving Family. Semper Fi.
