Wink The Birthday 2011 at The Wall

    Hi POPASMOKERS !!

Yes another year has passed and another Birthday is upon us. The POPASMOKE regulars will be setting up the tent (hootch) again at 20th and Constitution, Wash. DC. Set up is scheduled for Wednesday evening (Nov. 9th) at 1900 hrs. Any help you can give for the set up would really be appreciated.

The hootch will be open for business at 0800 on the 10th. The Memorial Service at The Wall will be at 1230 hrs. Muster NLT 1215 hrs. Birthday cake will be served immediately after the memorial service at the hootch. Shut down on the 10th will be about 1500 hrs. as it is a normal working day in DC and we have to vacate our parking spaces on Constitution Ave. for the rush hour traffic rules.

Hootch will reopen at 0800 on the 11th (Veterans Day) and shut down around 1430 hrs. So far no official decision has been made as to whether the hootch will be open on Saturday the 12th but I think it is not.

We do need help to man the hootch on the 10th and 11th so come on down and join the group to meet and greet veterans, their families and friends and the so many others who come to pay tribute.

Please let me (Crazy Joe) or Larry Zok know if you can help with this important POPASMOKE event.

Tim, You should put it on your "list" of have to do someday. Why put off till next year what you can do this year. I'll be getting a room and the price is the same for two beds as for one. Be my guest Tim, anyone?

Thanks for the offer Dale, we go to Cookie's Tavern in Philly 10th and Oregon Ave every year. They close of the entire city block and a few thousand Marine gather there. Free chow and the beers are cheap!

I know a couple of guys from Philly. They come down to the Iwo Jima Memorial then head back to Cookies. This year they are going to stop at the Wall and hang with us for an hour or so.Why not join us??

Talking Re: The Birthday 2011 at The Wall

Another successful trip to The Wall for The Birthday/Veterans Day has been completed.

Many thanks to Slick Katz, Larry Zok, J.D. Barber, Tom Cannon, Jim Turner, Dale Riley, and Tom Rodriguez for their hard work in making it a success.

Additionally a very BIG OUTSTANDING to Joe Hanner and Gary Alls for their work in getting a good supply of "giveaways" for the kids who visited the hootch on The Birthday and Veterans Day. OOOHRAAAH
