Some of these vets are reporting that they had used Agent Orange around fences in Okinawa and abandoned it there. DoD denies it was ever present. Veterans have have gone through photo albums and documents and found the evidence. I am wondering if any of your members who were on Okinawa at some point could look through their photo albums for any Agent Orange or barrels in storage or have personal knowledge of these events. We are only looking for Okinawa information and photos. I am not sure if you have a newsletter or how exactly this could be communicated or achieved. I’ve included the most recent article , links to previous articles and contacts for the folks collecting information.

I was OKI 76-77, first as MAG Intell O @ Futenma. We were finnishing off a checklist for a Wing (or WESTPAC) intell inspection, and were down to "the caves & tunnels" that were rumored to be to & under the airfield boundaries. We had some excellent maps, and some photos depicting where the sites were. Our inspection was to ensure the sites were adequately marked and plotted...but never anything else, as inside photos or the like. You can be rest assured that the locals we had w/our team knew that there was no reason to gain evidence as to why the site was not good. The name "Habu" came up often. MSgt Barney Esponoza was on a long tour re: Futenma and he may know a lot more than I...Plus...he was a Purple Fox ...

Back in 75-76 while at Futenma, the old "Army Nike Sites" were used as storage. Never saw anything else down there..

I got there in 72 before going to nam and had heard about tunnels under MCAS(H) Futema. Always wondered if there was any truth to it. As for the agent orange, never heard anything.
