Will miss my Friend Rudi
I was fortunate to have known and worked for Rudi. We shared an office when he was the S-4 of MAG - 36 in the mid 70's. Most particularly during the evacuation of Saigon, where amoung other things he flew an Army H-47 from one of the carriers when it was blocking the deck after a Vietnamese pilot had landed (along with a thousand Huey's) unannounced.
Beyond that and a hundred other stories I know that exist from everyone who knew him - my favorite memory will always be playing chess with him in the "Heavy's" BOQ (I was just a Captain at the time) over martini's. Seems I was a worse player and he was a better player after a couple of those. A good man. A friend. A Marine. Semper Fi Rudi Paul Pratt Lt Col USMC (ret) |
