Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Civil Actions Colors

Establishing Authority

The Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal was established by Decree 147/SL/CT of May 12, 1964; Decree 205/LDQC/SL of December 2, 1965, and Decree 101/CT/LDQC/ND of March 17, 1967. It was authorized as a unit award by Decree 58/QP/ND of January 20, 1968.

Acceptance by the United States

Acceptance and wear of this ribbon is authorized by Public Law 89-257, which authorized the acceptance of awards and decorations during the inclusive dates of March 1, 1961 and March 28, 1974 for service the Vietnam War.

Effective Dates

The Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions colors) was in effect from January 20, 1968 to the fall of South Vietnam in April of 1975.

Criteria

The Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Action Colors) was authorized for wear by United States military personnel assigned to units individually cited for outstanding achievements in civil affairs in South Vietnam.

Devices

This ribbon is worn without an attachment.

Descripton

The Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions colors) is a ribbon bar consisting of dark green and red, with a narrow stripe of dark green in the center. On either side is a very thin stirpe of red, a very wide dark-green stripe, a wide red stripe, and a narrow dark green strip at the edge. The ribbon is enclosed within a gold-colored rectangular frame embossed with a laurel leaf design. It is not worn without a device.

Awarding of this unit award does not entitle the recipient to wear the Gallantry Cross medal, which is an individual award.
