This young man was my best friend in the Nam. I nicked named him, FOX MIKE KERNS. Fred was the most decent young man I ever met in my life. Then and until now! He was and HONOR to the Marine Corps and to his Parents and family. I was present when He left us at so young an age. He took me once to the Orphanage in DaNang to meet his little girl that he sponsored, there. Fred was the EPITOME of a man. He was very kind, compassionate, selfless, and thought of everybody else first. I have missed him all these years. I have never opened up to another like I did with Fred. He was one genuine person. Had a heart of gold. If you knew him you were blessed. -Submitted by: Donald W. Lesko [butchieme1@aol.comT] 2007-03-16
