|
Here we are in a photo by SSGT Larry POPS Powell our OUTSTANDING Line Chief. Left to right L/Cpl Fred Petersen ( Popasmoke member) from West Peabody, MA. PVT. Dummitt, and L/Cpl George T. Curtis ( Popasmoke member) from Norwood, MA. I (L/Cpl Curtis) had just returned from sickbay after having small pieces of scrapnel removed from my face , over the right eye and forhead. I got these in a Rocket attackthe night before in March 68. Everyone was giving me a hard time. No one recognized me out of my flight Suit. I got my share for accepting my second PHM for these wounds. When I got to sickbay I had a ton on blood all over my face, they acted like I was going to loose my eye. When they cleaned it up, they were all surprized. The doctor told me I was lucky , am inch lower and no eye for sure. The three of us were always in or around trouble.I remained on Active duty for 25 years and retired as a MGYSGT. Who would have believed it back then. All my wife and son have to say is You guys sure look YOUNG
