I have studied this pic hard and conclude that what is seen is a portion of all the smoke that is coming down the L/H side of the aircraft. There is a large mass of smoke on this side of the aft pylon and more smoke falling into the trees on the right. The poor pic does not show the connecting smoke trails. -Submitted by: bunniemccosar [bunniemccosar@windstream.net] 2009-03-06

From the angle of this bird, this photo looks like one taken slightly later than a colored shot i saw of a burning 46. That one was Operation Hastings, where the 46 was trying to land on an LZ, and saw the damage from where two preceding birds had collided with their rotor blades. this bird went on to crash outside the LZ. I am afraid thats all I know -Submitted by: Al Struelens [struelens@cox.net] 2009-06-29
