This photo looks like it was taken at Al Asad Air Base, Al Anbar, Iraq. Ahhhh good ol' Al Asad! Semper Fi!Comment by: Michael Reed on Nov 23, 2006 12:29 AM When I was in, Stab Bar Hueys were located at New River and in 4thMAW while SCAS Hueys were both at New River and Pendleton. M K REED Semper FiComment by: Howie on Mar 20, 2007 11:54 AM N models have been around since late 1970 when HMA-269 adopted them in New River. We were a combined UH-1N and AH-1J squadron back then when they formed. Later the N models went to 167 when they rotated back to New River. I would bet that these are not N models given these are at Al Assad!! S/FComment by: Aaron apponi on Apr 9, 2007 07:46 PM Considering I submitted this picture and work and fly in them, they are UH-1N's.Comment by: Wm R Miller Jr on May 5, 2007 05:39 PM Stab Bar Hueys and they are N models, are prefered over SCAS N's by most pilots, plus, they are easy to check on pre-flight and you will never have a SCAS problem, so Avi loves them!Comment by: Huey Plane Captain on Jul 14, 2007 05:45 PM This is my former squadron. These Hueys are in a forward LZ. They were, may still be based out of Ali Al Salem AB Kuwait, where I was fixing them in the rear. There are only a handful of stabbar Hueys left on Pendleton. They have been phased out when the appropriate maintenance sees fit. They went from stabbar to a SCAS stability system. Comment by: Capponi on Jul 31, 2007 12:17 PM This photo was taken at Al Asad Air Base. And 269 still has a few stab bar Hueys.
