CH-53 on side
This is the same CH-53 from the Korean compound, fall of "70. Both pictures were taken from official Marine Corps photos. I rember this it happened about a month after I got in country. Sgt Mc Niel was killed in this 53 what we were told they hit a bunker getting ROK marines. Sgt Mc Neil and I and 2 others came from LTA Tustin at the same time. //Roger Miller [RLMILLER@rctlma.org] This happened during the floods in late 1970. My aircraft went in to complete the evacuation of the ROK Marines. The OP was located somewhere south of DaNang. The aircraft was about half way submerged in the zone. I almost lost my leg while evacuating the ROK MArines from the tops of the bunkers. John "J.D." Barber President USMC/Combat Helicopter Association, HMM-263 70-71, EG-11
