I didn't really know Capt Johnson, but did know Capt Pfeifer and Dave Moser well. Lt. Pfeiifer and I seemed to always catch Guard at the same times. , Him As officer and me as Sgt of the guard. This was Aboard ship on the Carib Cruse in '65. Dave Moser was Gunny (Jeff) Jeffersons brother in law. I beleive they married sisters. I heard that Gunny Jeff passed away prior to our reunion at New River in 2004. I only knew Gunny Strouse by sight. The main issue about these Marines is that they were lost on Oct. 6, 1966 but not found until some time after May 15, 1967, which is when I rotated home. I remember the day after thier flight all hands wer put to doing what they could to locate thier plane. The night they went down was poor weather to say the least. They were headed to Dong Ha from Marble Mt. I think of Dave, Gunny Jeff and Lt often..very often. Semper Fi -Submitted by: George (DEL) DeLanoy [gcdelanoy@comcast.net] 2009-09-05
