Photo #12323
Helo 342 - Korea, Summer 1951
This is a photo of my father Sgt. Charles Smock, Squad Leader of 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, Easy Co., 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division leaning on Marine helo 342 in Korea, Summer of 1951. My hope is to reunite this helo with the crew that manned it. You can see the name of the bird "Patsy" and the crew chief's name Pfc. Tolrne on the side of the helo. The Marine ground pounders like my father viewed the Marine helos as angels from above who saved countless lives.

According to Joe Baughers site, it crashed during a resupply mission near Sudong Myon on September 22,1951. Comment by: Brent Smock on Feb 8, 2009 04:50 PM Thanks Craig. A sad ending for a great Helo. It crashed just a couple of months after this photo.
