VMA 225 Marine John Keane from Whitestone, Queens, N.Y. sitting on top of Searless Van on board LST 1165 Washoe County on way to Chu Lai May 17, 1965. We are sailing in the Inland Sea of Japan on our way through the Bongo Straits. The Japanese Pearl Harbor sailed through these waters in Dec. 1941. Also, Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster had some trouble here in Run Silent, Run Deep.
