HMM-164 66-67

Cpl Jones at Dong Ha; #13 got hit right in the middle. One lucky Rocket! 1967 Submitted by: GySgt C.E. Woodard (Woody) Relocated from COMBAT PHOTOS by George T. Curtis / JAN 2003
YT 13 lived to fight another day. I flew it on many missions throughout 1968 including one on Friday the 13th, Mission 13-1 at 1300 hours which made a good story for Stars and Stripes. We did an admin run and got back without incident.Unfortunately it was later hit in a revetment in August of that year and had a lot of holes punched in it by a mortar. It had more patches than good skin but we fixed it and I flew it until I went home in November of 1968. Capt. Rick Wilson, HMM-164.
This same aircraft was also involved in the evacuation of Saigon april 29-30 1975, we were a little more superstitious though and changed it to YT-31 the night before. 1st Sgt Billy A. Beck (Ret) // Bill Beck [bbeck99@hotmail.com]
