My name is Harold Johnson. My brother is Bruce Johnson who survived the crash of ship #8 in which Emerson and Harrell were killed in.This picture was taken nov 20, 1968,that is when they were shot down. The marine on the far left is crew chief/gunner bruce johnson, next to him is hester the other gunner than capt Emerson. the marine to the right of emerson should be Harrell.

I\'m not in this photograph. I was inside EP8 getting ready to load troops. I was the Crew Chief this day on EP8. My helicopter was EP4 but it was down due to damage substained from the old EP8 accident.

Jack Harrell was a childhood friend of mine. I looked up to him. When he was killed I resolved to become a Marine helicopter pilot too. I got my wings in 76, flew 53s and started several air ambulance operations after my Marine Corps career. Jack's life meant something to me and to all the people I have touched as a result of his being around. Not a bad epitaph for a 23 year old 1st Lt.

I am Jack Harrell\'s daughter. I was born about a month and a half after his death. Pat managed to find me and contact me about 10 years ago shortly after my mother\'s death and it meant a lot to me. I was chatting w/ some friends online tonight about stuff and it got me thinking and I\'ve been searching online for information. I\'m glad to have found this.
