Just in case anyone is not already aware during the Reunion in Cowtown, the OV10 Association is staging what has rapidly turned into a full-scale airshow.
Popasmoke members will be admitted early at 1000 as VIP guests. We will have our own air conditioned tent right among the birds and access to the OV10 guys' ready room (air conditioned).
There will be about 80 or so active-duty pilots and crew in attendance. It will be the duty of the Popasmoke membership to treat these young Marines like royalty. Remember, you are all responsible for recruiting new and future members to Popasmoke. They are on board for a dinner on Friday night at the hangar and local auto dealerships are providing their rent cars.
This event is not something you want to miss. We plan to have at least one of every Marine Helicpter flying plus some old birds like YL137, the 34D and something they call an H13 of Korean War vintage.
This is an incredible opportunity for our members to lay hands on our own planes and take individual as well as group photos WITH your bird as a backdrop.
There will also be a full compliment of Marine fixed wing aircraft at Meacham Field. Many of the pilots and crew are also present or former Marine helomen as are a good number of the other service aircraft flying in.
The 4th MAW is fully behind this event as is the local MAG41. The brass of both will be on hand, a chance to rub elbows in the shadow of our aircraft.
We do need to hear if anyone needs special transportation as no buses or autos can get nearer than one block away. This is nothing like a regular Air Show deathmarch in the heat a half mile from the parking lot, but if you or your guests need help with the block's walk to the aircraft, please email or call and I will pass it on to the OV10 honchos.
