  • VMO-6 KIA pilot's sister requests contacts

This past weekend my wife and I hosted three of her sorority sisters (SUNY Oswego, 1965) at our condo in Norfolk, Viginia. One of the ladies mentioned that she had a brother who was a Marine pilot who was killed in Vietnam in 1968. Upon further discussion I realized that I had been one of his instructors at Camp Pendleton (HML-267), and that he flew with my old squadron VMO-6. His name was Robert Charles (Pete) Kimmel. I introduced his sister to Popasmoke, and looked up his KIA incident report to show her. She was very impressed and wondered if anyone who knew "Pete" Kimmel would contact her. I told her that I would make that request for her via this post. Her married name is Ricketson.
