A friend of mine, Mr. Jae-sung Chung has launched a new bilingual website for Vietnam veterans. This is a bilingual website with English language and Korean language sides, and much is translated between the forums to facilitate communications.

[ADMIN - if this violates ROE somehow, I apologize, and I understand if you delete]

If you supported the Korean Marines or Army units deployed in-country, and would like to say hello, this is the site:

This letter from Mr. Chung welcomes Vietnam veterans to his new website:

I am Jae-sung Chung who had served as English language webvmaster of Vietvet, Korea. I have the pleasure of informing you overseas Vietnam War veterans that I have finally established a new internet website of www.rokfv.com

As it is brand new, the website has yet been filled with relative materials and information. However, we will do our best to meet your satisfaction as quickly as possible.

Please allow me to request you to visit our new website and leave valuable comments. I am sure your comments will surely encourage those buddies who have brought every possible effort in constructing this internet homepage.
In this regard, I would appreciate it very much if you kindly visit the new website at your earliest convenience.

With best regards,

Jae-sung Chung

Anyounghaseyo. Juhnoon Onnew harabuhgee imnida.

I am Buck Simmons, Scarface 48. I flew Cobras from HML 367 in Marble Mountain in 1970 and 1971. We frequently supported the Korean Marines from LZ 10 and the French Fort area. they were formidable fighters. We were glad to be on the same side.

Many years later, our oldest son married a girl from Suwon, a second marriage for both. We are blessed with a wonderful daughter in law and a granddaughter, Onnew, who is now 15 and an absolute delight to us. We try to speak Korean, wanting her to keep the language and culture. She now speaks English like any other teen ager, speaks Latin and is learning Japanese. It's funny how these things come full circle.

Thanks to the Koreans for fighting with us.

I Remember

I remember some of the support missions that we flew for the Korean Marines. The one that has stuck closer was Christmas of 69,and ET20 and Flight Crews mission was to take the Korean General around to see and wish His troops WELL for the Holidays. 🙂 I believe He also took some Good Cheers
for his Officers. There is more to the story ,but thats for me and maybe a story book some day.

HMM 262 supported the Korean Marines in 66 and 67. From what we heard they wanted to fly in the birds with the tiger on the tail. I had to take a crew and change a blade at their base camp . One of them got cut in half by the blade as the bird landed in the middle of a hill which made a shorter distance to the ground. On one troop lift the flight leader asked the Company CO what kind of more was he going to deploy for the pick up and he said black burn village. SF

Korean website

HMM363 sent a detachment to ChuLai to support the Koreans. During a troop lift one of the Koreans decieded he wanted to go for a ride and got on the left landing gear and held on for dear life. I believe Jack (Screw) Warner has a picture of him at about 3000ft.
BET THAT CALLED FOR A CHANGE OF SKIVIES

ROK Marines

HMM-165 supported the ROK Marines in mid-late 1968 in the An Hoa area. These were GOOD fighters and they HATED VC!
When the old termite ridden hootches were scheduled near the flight line at MMAF were going to be bulldozed, and the ROK Marines leveled at least a few of them with their martial arts skills!! I never had issues with them and supported them with pleasure!

Great Respect & Admiration

This is my thoughts towards serving in support of the ROK Marines in RVN. (HMM-265)
During '66/'67.,they had a compound not far from MMAF & another small unit in downtown Danang.
I agree with Joe. Gutsy.,savvy.,dedicated & loyal to the man...,& VERY capable.(Great bunch of guys to party with too)
I cannot recall one instance of an emer. retract of one of their units.., regardless of how dicey the SITREP.
They did, indeed, hate the VC. They held the ARVN with only marginally higher regard.(I believe they had a less than sterling opinion of the South Vietnamese people in general)
Hand Salute to the ROK Marines

S/F,Mike

TAKE NO PRISONERS.,SHOW NO MERCY.

DEATH SMILES AT EVERYONE...,MARINES SMILE BACK...
