Gents,

I am investigating the loss of one of an Australian aircraft, Canberra Bomber A84-231 while it was on a GDB mission on 3 November 1970, 70 km southwest of Da Nang . Two Australians, Michael Herbert (pilot) and Robert Carver (navigator) are MIA presumed dead as a result.

I need some expert assistance.

The radio conversation between the pilot (Michael Herbert - Magpie 91) and the Ground Controller (Bill Hanig - Milky) was recorded as follows:
___________
MILKY: Would you pass the TPQ for us sir ?
MAGPIE 91: Roger Magpie 91 go ahead.
MILKY: It will be off channel 69 198 at 39 for the next 20 minutes.
MAGPIE 91: Roger leaving your freq for 30 seconds. (Magpie slips off Milky’s voice frequency for 30 seconds to use the radio to speak to some other party.)
MILKY: Roger sir.
MAGPIE 91: Magpie 91 back your freq.
___________
Can anyone tell me what this is all about. What was the 'TPQ'?

Also does anyone have any idea where I can get hold of the Operational Navigation Chart for the area - believe it was ONC K-10?

Thanking you,
Regards,
Jim Bourke
