I was looking up any additional information I might get regarding the above Cobra and I wanted to clear up some confusion I read about it being a Marine Cobra. It was not and served with the 7thCalvary"Blue Ghost" in Viet Nam from 1970 to 1973. Came back to the U.S. and was converted to a cold weather Cobra and assigned to a unit with the Air Force in Alaska. It then came back to Corpus Christi and was outfitted withTOW missiles and sent to Germany as part of the Cold War protection until the late 80's. It served with the NJANG beginning 13 March, 1996 and was retired back to Ft Drum NY in 2002 and reassigned to the Greater Hawkins Memorial Association in 2004.

Since the two of us that reassembled the Cobra in my Hangar are former Marines we put the Marines on the side of the Copter under the canopy rails to help offset the US Army that was shown on the tail section. This was done to show the two services that operated the Cobra in Viet Nam. There have been some interesting stories about this bird and maybe this will put to bed some of the misunderstandings that might have risen from various articles. I have the history cards but not with me at this writing but I wanted to share this information to anyone that might be interested.

Semper Fi and Happy Birthday two days late,

This was my helicopter in Vietnam. I was with the Blue Ghost F Troop 8th Cav. I turned this helicopter in, in March of 73. It was an ARMY helicopter. Best flying snake in the sky. This bird now sits, as Iam told, north of Tyler, Tx.
