POPASMOKE Member Chuck Brewer [chuck22348@sbcglobal.net] came up with the idea for Adopt-A-Shop as a way to ensure deployed Marines were being resupplied with much-needed consumable materials from volunteers on the home front.

Want to get involved?

For Deployed Marines:

1. If you are interested in having your deployed shop or unit adopted by an individual or group stateside, Register on the NOTAM Board Forums:
https://www.popasmoke.com/notam2/register.php?do=signup

Then submit your request by starting a new forum thread here:
https://www.popasmoke.com/notam2/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=159

A sample request can be seen here:
https://www.popasmoke.com/notam2/showthread.php?t=7311

2. The deployed shop is encouraged to do the following:

  • Check this forum regularly and provide feedback, answer questions, relay items needed by the troops, acknowledge received packages, etc.

For Adopting Parties:

1. If you are interested in adopting a shop or unit of deployed Marines, simply send an e-mail to the designated contact in the post.

2. The adopting party is encouraged to do the following:

  • You can attempt e-mail communication with the adopted shop in order to find out which items are needed by the troops, advise when sending packages, etc. HOWEVER, DO NOT expect them to reply. They are quite busy just trying to stay alive!
  • Send photos or letters of support to allow adopted shop to get to know who it is that is supporting them.
  • Provide your friends with the shop's mailing address so they can help you 'take care of' your Marines by sending regular packages of goodies.

More Information:

  • To All: Please use this forum for posting questions, letters, photos, ideas, etc. in order to share your experiences with the Adopt-A-Shop program.
  • All deployed Marine Shops or Units qualify for Adopt-A-Shop.
  • Any interested individual, group, organization, or corporation can adopt a shop.
  • Most shops will have multiple adopters. This is done to benefit the deployed Marines. Each adopting party, sharing the same shop, would typically work independently and not as a larger group.
  • If you have a contact in a deployed shop, that is not listed in this forum, please let them know the URL and have them sign-up.
