My friend George/Nash Greene is trying to find out information on an incident that damaged (likely scrapped due to severe damage) a CH-53A when two birds went on a cross country to this locale from MCAS New River and HMH-362. Apparently the day after arrival the HAC (Could've been the co-pilot) of one of the birds, a CWO, turned his bird up and was attempting a hover when it ended very badly injuring one of the crew when blades entered the cabin. Don't know anything else. Greene was CC of the other bird. They were called to the airport, after the crew member was med-evaced to St.Louis, he believes. They returned to New River asap and nothing was ever said regarding this incident. Greene was RAD soon after as his enlistment was complete.
Anyone ever hear of this incident/accident???
