What is the tear drop shape above the hatch and when was it added? I have seen the same thing on the opposite side.

I am told they were called "elephant ears" and designed to shield the navigation lights.

Anybody when they where added or had they also been there? Looking at some photo's of 362 in 62 it's hard to tell if they had them.
