K.W. Cash USMC 61/65, I was in H&MS 32 in 61/62. Met a couple of MyGSgt E-9's who said they were called Flying Peons (all enlisted pilots from WW2) because they opted to stay in USMC. Their reason for not becoming officers was that they would have been put in the draft which they could have ended up in another branch of service.

MyGSgt. H. C. Woodring was NCOIC of S3 which I was in. He retired before I had chance to learn much about their group.

Anyone out there with any info?
