Off Year Reunion

Silck I had great luck setting up a tour of MCAS New River with the Community Relations office. Was just Keith Low,Bill Gantz and myself but they treated us like royalty. Got tours of several simulators (maintenance, weapons as well as flight simulators) and they all were still working when we got done. Also we had lunch at the Marina (our choice) MRE's. A couple nice looking WM's met us at the gate and drove us around. We commented that had there been more good looking WM's back in the day we might have stayed in longer????????

Walt, I don't believe any Squadron would mind having members from all years show up, wether it was named Vietnam, Beirut, or whatever year. The problem coming up now is the economy, and everyone out of work not being able to afford them. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Would any former 167 members that plan to attend please contact me:
ALLYN HINTON: MarinePatches@aol.com or call me at 636-441-5623
or write me at: 26 Country Creek Dr. St. Peters, MO 63376-3047.

We need to get a rough idea of how many HML-167 and HMLA-167 Marines will be there so that the squadron will know how many to prepare for.

Re: Hml-167 off year reunion

Scott Chellis who lives in NC is taking the point on this. We are looking at the Quality Inn on Marine Blvd. Jacksonville as reunion HQ it is about half way between main gates of LeJeune and New River on Rt. 17.

Scott will have address and phone for hotel in a few days. The current squadron would like to have any old photos, and records so they can up date squadron history. Bring them with you so they can make copies.

If you plan to attend send me an e-mail, so far it looks like we are going to have a good turn out. The air show that weekend May 14-15 to mark the 100 years of Naval Aviation is going to be the best one they have had. We will be the guest of the squadron for the rehearsal on May 13th.

Re: Hml-167 off year reunion

Following received from Maj "Bootz" Batzel. Take note of his comments about Warrior Night. If interested register early.

Gentlemen,

Beginning on Wednesday 11 May 2011, we are co-hosting an East Coast Skid Reunion at MCAS New River as a prelude to the 2011 New River Airshow that weekend. The reunion is comprised of a series of events focused on the Marines who served in East Coast Skid Squadrons since 1968. On behalf of HMLA-167 and the McCutcheon Squadron, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us for this epic event. There will be four distinct events for which tickets will be available on line.

Wednesday 11 May 2011 - 1700-2200 - Reunion - Officer's Club
Thursday 12 May 2011 - 1000-1130 - "America's Marine Aviators" movie and APW-53 Z/Y Brief - Base Theater
1400-1500 - Cobra and Huey Dedication - New River Memorial
1600-2200 - Warrior Night - Officer's Club

Tickets for the reunion will be $25.00 which will cover the cost of food, beer, and entertainment.
Tickets for the movie/brief are free but limited to 286 participants.
Tickets for the dedication are free.
Tickets for the Warrior Night are $75.00 which includes a 20 oz. Prime Rib, adult beverages, and a handful of premium cigars; among other goodies - based on the success of this event over the last three years - these tickets will go fast!
Any proceeds (minimal at best) after the bills are paid will go to the McCutcheon Squadron's efforts to erect the Marine Aviation Memorial Tower. More information can be found at www.honorourmarines.org or by calling me at 910-381-7975. There is a link to a secure website to purchase your tickets with a major credit card as well.

HML 167 Hotel is:
Sleep Inn and Suites in Jacksonville. It is ~ 7 miles from New River. It is a 3 diamond hotel with excellent reviews. The rate is 89.00 per night per room (single or double occupancy). Suite rate is 109.00.
