I'm researching for my book, "Wings of Valor." I could really use some help on the following:
1. 10-11 March 1966: The siege on the ARVN garrison at Ashau. Lieutenant Ressler (the pilot) was later awarded the DFC for his performance as HAC. What I'm looking for is the name of the co-pilot, the crew chief and the gunner. Also, any pertinent memories of the garrison evacuation. I joined the squadron at Futema in August of 1966, so I missed the missions at Ashau.

2. Any personal memories of the crash of YP-4 on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Okinawa on 16 September 1967 would be appreciated.

Aaron:

If you have the squadron information for Lt Ressler, this site will likely have the AAR for the flight posted. http://www.vietnam.ttu.edu/

Good luck with your research.

Re: I could use some help.

Aaron, would this crash of YP-4 be the one in which you fondly became known as "Shakey Jake"?
