To all Popasmoke members

I received word from Ron (The Hawk) Cornetta, a.k.a. Peachbrush 44, that the Mike Clausen Memorial Fund has just topped $17,000 in contributions!!
Ron along with Phillip Monteleone, a former Marine from Ponchatoula, La., have been in contact with the mayor of Hammond, La. regarding naming a park after Mike and placing a memorial to him there. Ron confirmed that the mayor has agreed to name the park after Mike and that is where they will erect a monument to honor Mike.
In addition to the memorial, they are planning on a head stone for Mike’s grave, for which there is none at this time. They are continuing to accept donations and any money that may be left over will go to the scholarship fund that Popasmoke will administer.
If you have any questions regarding this worthwhile endeavor, please contact Ron at his e-mail address: rancor44@hotmail.com.

PFC Raymond "Mike" Clausen MOH Memorial

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Charlie Maddocks
Date: Jan 1, 2007 12:54 PM
Subject: Mike Clausen Memorial Dedication

Gentlemen,

In case you have not been contacted by Frenchy LaFountain I am sending this FRAG out to each of you to make sure you are in the loop.

The purpose of this memo is to make sure each of you and anyone else you deem appropriate be notified that the presentation of the grave stone of the of the PFC Raymond "Mike" Clausen MOH Memorial will be dedicated on Saturday, 27 Jan. 2007 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Invitations have been printed for the ceremony and I would like to send to each of you as many additional invitations needed for your dissemination. Please send me your snail mail addresses and the number of invitations you are requesting ASAP so that I can get these out to you.

I am working with Frenchy and point man Sgt. Greg Davis in trying to get the word out to all those who would be interested. Your help in spreading the word is greatly appreciated. Please see the attachment [page 11] about the event that was included in the Winter POPASMOKE. Originally, the event was scheduled for the anniversary date of the MOH mission. Due to the fact that the 31st is a weekday, the ceremony will be held instead on the date listed above.

Questions about directions from New Orleans and other venues can be addressed to Sgt. Greg Davis at 225-752-8311 or 225-324-6823.

Your attendance is requested at this Memorial muster.
