With a successful operational evaluation in hand, the U.S. Marine Corps is planning to request approval for full-rate production of the new AH-1Z attack helicopter after a years-long shortfall.

US Marines eye AH-1Z full rate production

Wally, just hope it it a bit bigger, and can carry more Marines. Hate to find out the price. There was at one time a law that a production could not go over the inital bid for it. Hope it will be re-activated. We get good systems going, and cost over runs go wild. Also hope we don't re-sell the older ones to countries that would use them against us. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Ace,

The AH-1Z is the newest Cobra attack helicopter. It seats two.

AH-1z....

Goodness should have noticed the A for attack on the model of the Bird. Still say we need troop carriers instead of attack Birds. The ones we have do the job very well, but we need another one instead? My mouth seems to fit my foot very well now. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

AH1z

I am glad we are getting it, but I still have questions about the 22. A major troop lift would take several Squadrons, as the up rate per Squadron isn't very good. All the money boeing made off the 22, will be paid out on the delays of their new big Commercial planes. I knew 3-4 countries wouldn't be able to fit one together where it would fly. It has to be made by one company, and one only. Oh well. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
