Branson????

FATHATCH

I have been to Branson. Nice place, but you can't get there from here. Only airport is at Springfield, MO and it's a small airport. Otherwise you fly into Kansas City, St Louis or Little Rock and drive - and drive - and drive - and drive. They also do not have a place big enough to house us all in one place or allow us to all eat in the same place. Keep thinking though, we need everyones input.

Branson

I agree with Larry. Some of us who were there for the 2005 Welcome Home Viet Nam Vets deal saw the same thing. Great venue, but we'd be housed all over the town and traffic is MURDER, takes forever to get anywhere! HAd some fun Motorcycle rides, but we bikers are few compared to the entire membership. Maybe Kansas City or St.Louis for a new midwest locale. I still like Memphis, but for those of us that were stationed there in the 60's, the NAS Memphis base is history! Has county and city stuff al over it. Nashvilles would be good, too...Maybe a little too far East and/or South..
Next motion!

Michelle

Believe it or not, our Saturday dinner was the largest crowd she has played since Viet Nam. She & Lindsay would come sing for us any time, any where. they loved hanging out in the hootches on Saturday night after the dinner. Lots of hugs all around.

Just FYI, Guys. Branson has a big new Convention Center and adjacent hotel down by the lakefront. Branson Landing, a big shopping and restauant area is on the lakefront. They are also building a new regional airport just east of Hollister, which is just south of Branson. It will be big enough to handle all aircraft up to the 747. They expect to open some time next year and will take air travel away from Springfield. Whether all this would meet our needs remains to be determined.

Branson

Bill,
I really like Branson! The people are great and the area is very pleasant in general. There's still the traffic...EVERYWHERE you go!

you're right, Joe, the traffic in Branson can be horrific. However, if you know the area, you can avoid most of it by driving parallel roads and staying off 76. I've been going there since 1994 and can go almost anywhere I want with little traffic congestion. I also agree, the people there are very friendly and helpful.
