Good Afternoon,
My name is Sgt Anjal and I work with CNATT on new river. We are currently helping to design the new CH-53K schoolhouse. I have been asked to find a historian to help line the walls with a timeline of the 53 as far back as the predecessor to the alpha. The 34 I believe, but that's where you guys come in if you're interested. Even if you gentlemen are not I was hoping to be pointed in the right direction. We are excited about our new heavy lift and hope that you gentlemen could help! Thank you!

I believe that the CH-37 (S56, HR2S, Deuce, Mojave), would be the true predecessor of the CH 53.
The Deuce hit the inventory about 1956.
Retired Col Jim Shelton was one of the original 53 pilots and also and old 37 hand.
The Marines flew these for a few years. They preceded the arrival of the HMH-463 Detachment of
four CH-53As in December of 1966 at Marble Mountain, RVN. The reminder of the squadron arrived
in late April of 1967, after a West Pac cruise on the LPH-10 Tripoli
on her maiden voyage.
