On January 15, 2009, the new squadron designation for 365 will be VMM-365, according to the present HMM-365 Sergeant Major (by telephone with del Rosario, 12/23/2008).

Vmm-365

OhhRah, Del! The past is gone and on comes the New Corps! I'll always remember HMM-365 as my very first duty staton after aviation school in Memphis. We were UH-34D's when I got there and CH-46D's when I left. Long live the HMM/VMM-365 colors!

Hey Joe:

Why don't make it up to MCAS New River for the Changeover Ceremony? The ceremony is at the HMM-365 area on January 15, 2009 starting at 1400 hrs.

The program will be -
- change of commandin officers
- retirement of HMM-365 designation
- assumption of VMM-365 designation
- reception at the MCAS New River Officers Club

In addition, HMM-365 Vietnam will have a reunion brunch before the Ceremony and a reunion cocktail/coffee get-together after the reception.

The retirement of the HMM-365 Colors and Battle Streamers will mark the end of our Squadron's illustrious service to this Country. About 17 of us will be there.

Anyone else who had served with HMM-365 and would like to attend the ceremony and festivities please contact me at marinehelicopters@lycos.com or go to the HMM-365 Vietnam Forum for more information.

Del,
I was just there last month, for the first time since 1967! WOW What a difference, and the city of J-ville is HUGE!! (Compared to 41 years ago) Wish I had the time and the dollars to do it again! My old skipper from HMM-365 (K.W. "Andy" Andrus) is among my many friends that I keep in touch with. Those were special times for me, and I'd like to attend...

Joe:

I will include your name on the invited guest list that I will submit to the HMM-365 Sergeant Major. Please try to get Andy Andrus to attend the ceremony also, if he hasn't already made up his mind to go.

BTW, we are trying to get a flyable UH-34D for the ceremony at MCAS New River. We are relying on donations from anyone who had ever served with that gallant old bird to finance that trip. With the grace of good Marines, we will have a UH-34D, a CH-46. and an MV-22 side by side at the Changeover Ceremony.

Thanks for your support and consideration. I will pass this along to Andy, I'm sure he'll be pleased. Wish I could....
