Fraud alerts suggested for veterans ID THEFT: State officials suggest the credit precaution after data for ex-military people is taken.

To obtain a credit report:

Call Equifax at (800) 685-1111; Experian at (888) 397-3742; or

TransUnion at (800) 888-4213

Log on to www.annualcreditreport.com

To get more information about the theft case:

Call 1-800-FED-INFO

Log on to www.firstgov.gov or www.va.gov/opa

The information includes names, Social Security numbers and birth dates, mainly for veterans who have been discharged since 1975.
